Hamlet
by William Shakespeare

Trapped between duty and doubt, surrounded by power and privilege, young Prince Hamlet dares to ask the ultimate question – you know the one.
National Theatre Deputy Artistic Director, Robert Hastie (Standing at the Sky’s Edge, Operation Mincemeat) directs this sharp, stylish and darkly funny reimagining.

Piano Drowning at Sinema Llangoed
‘Piano Drowning’ is one of three scores from Annea Lockwood’s ‘Piano Transplants’ series, in which pianos are placed in specific locations that would somehow alter their physical states.
‘Piano Drowning’ was permanently installed in the pond at Plas Bodfa in Llangoed in 2021. It has since inspired three full-length new music compositions, performances, visual artwork, countless visits and has been continuously documented.
The third composition from Welsh composer Ynyr Pritchard (supported by Tŷ Cerdd) was performed in and around the piano in September of 2025.
We will be screening the film of this performance, along with shorts from the first two performances in 2021 and 2022. All three films were created by Culture Colony, a Welsh video production company focused on the arts, environment and community.
A cinematic celebration of new music in North Wales. Highlights from three new music compositions inspired by Piano Drowning by Annea Lockwood, permanently installed in the pond at Plas Bodfa, Llangoed.

WEST, a play by Owen Thomos
Perfect for Valentines Day, the play explores the lives of two Welsh people who fall in love and decide to leave Wales in order to build a life in the New World. It details the hardships and adventures they faced, focusing primarily on the theme of immigration. Written by Owen Thomas, the award-winning writer of ‘Grav’ and ‘The Wood’.
The play is written in a lyrical, poetic style and presented using minimal set and a physicalised performance style. It is performed by Gareth John Bale (who also directs), the Welsh actor and director whose credits include ‘Grav’, ‘Steeltown Murders’ and ‘Nye and Jennie’; and Gwenllian Higginson, best known to Welsh theatre audiences for ‘Constellations', 'Gwlad yr Asyn’ and ‘Miss Julie’.
We welcome Bale and Thomas back to Llangoed Village Hall after their very popular performance of GRAV last year.

‘Free Party: A Folk History’ film + RAVE at Sinema Llangoed
Free Party: A Folk History is a feature documentary following the birth of the free party movement in the late 80s and early 90s and the impact it's had on our present times.
The film follows the inception of the movement, a meeting between ravers and the new age travellers during Thatcher's last days in power, and the explosive years that followed, leading up the infamous Castlemorton free festival in 1992 - the largest ever illegal rave, which provoked the drastic change of the laws of trespass with the notorious introduction of the Criminal Justice Act in 1994.
“This film is a unique look at a much underrepresented moment in cultural
history, the last great unifying youth movement, before digital cameras and the internet, which really challenged the authorities, connected environmental awareness with music and questioned laws on land rights and trespass.
Thematically its incredibly prescient to
today, with new laws on trespass being proposed, illegal parties taking place post pandemic and 30 years since Castlemorton itself. I’ve got incredible access to unseen archive and grass-roots stories very seldom heard from the people who lived it.”
Join us for ‘Free Party: A Folk History’, an independent documentary of the birth of the Free Party movement.

Power Station at Sinema Llangoed
Two artists in Walthamstow set out to take their street off the grid, kickstarting a solar-powered energy revolution.
Inspired by lockdown mutual aid initiatives, artist-activists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn decided to turn their street into an energy-generating powerhouse – a prototype for a new way of living, with the hope of galvanising a wider push towards sustainable alternatives. Directed by the duo, POWER STATION charts their turbulent journey, from pitching the idea to their neighbours and sleeping on the roof of their home to raising finance and launching a bid for a Christmas number one single. By turns funny and heartwarming, Powell and Edelstyn’s film is a vibrant portrait of their local neighbourhood, and a charming testament to the power of art in changing minds about what could be possible.
Join us for ‘Power Station’ a new film that follows two artists in Walthamstow as they take their street off the grid, kickstarting a solar-powered energy revolution.

Shine a Light in Llangoed
Shine a Light in Llangoed this Advent season.
All you have to do is create a Christmas themed display in your window or garden which others can see from the road or pavement outside. Its meant to cheer passers by – it won’t involve inviting people into your home or garden.
There will be a prize for the best / most imaginative display and a separate prize for the best display made by children.
Your display doesn't have to be religious but it would be great if some were to tell part of the Christmas story and so add to our preparations for this, as well as cheering up all who see them..
Would you like to join us in lighting up a Christmas themed display in your window or front garden this year? Solar powered if possible!
This would be during Advent (which begins on 30th November) in the lead up to the traditional afternoon Cafe Carols event in Llangoed Village Hall on Sunday 14th December.
We will create a trail from Pont y Brenin to the village hall down the main road or the back way via the school.
If you would like to Shine a light this Advent to Christmas please message Wendy Davies for more information either by text or WhatsApp – 07794 455796.

Sleep Furiously at Sinema Llangoed
Set in a small farming community in mid Wales, a place where Koppel's parents - both refugees - found a home. This is a landscape and population that is changing rapidly as small scale agriculture is disappearing and the generation who inhabited a pre-mechanised world is dying out. Much influenced by his conversations with the writer Peter Handke, the film maker leads us on a poetic and profound journey into a world of endings and beginnings; a world of stuffed owls, sheep and fire.

Non-Psychic Seance
Inspired by the response to his 'The Non-Psychic 'Psychic' Show, and his book 'A Study in Psychic', ‘The Non-Psychic Seance,’ invites attendees to step back in time to the Victorian era. This unique performance captures the intrigue of a (Fraudulent) seance utilizing magical techniques, all while sharing riveting tales of psychic hoaxes from the early twentieth century. It’s an engaging mix of history, comedy and illusion that sparks curiosity and thought-provoking conversation. As with 'The Non-Psychic 'Psychic' Show' the show makes no statement about the truth of 'Psychic' powers, and only discusses those who are knowingly committing fraud.
The performance stems from my stage show, 'The Non-Psychic 'Psychic' Show', but brings it into a more intimate setting with a maximum of 40 people in the audience for each performance. As with my other shows, the inspiration of the great Harry Houdini is always lurking in the air as well.
Get ready for an evening that combines the spooky with the funny, as 'The Non-Psychic 'Psychic'', magician Greg Chapman, takes his new performance on tour in Autumn 2025, and knew immediately that he wanted to bring the show to Llangoed Village Hall after enjoying two performances in the hall before.

Mrs. Warren’s Profession - National Theatre Live at Sinema Llangoed
Vivie Warren is a woman ahead of her time. Her mother, however, is a product of that old patriarchal order. Exploiting it has earned Mrs. Warren a fortune – but at what cost?
Filmed live from the West End, this new production reunites Staunton with director Dominic Cooke (Follies, Good), exploring the clash between morality and independence, traditions and progress.
