We are working with North Wales Wildlife Trust to reignite biodiversity in our area

As part of a pilot project with North Wales Wildlife trust, we will be recording our actions and documenting our impact through quarterly surveys. So far we have installed swift boxes, grooved bat roosts and house martin nest cups under our roof overhang as well as install three hedgehog boxes. We are working to establish a wildflower meadow area and install bird boxes.

With thanks Community Foundation Wales for their donation of £2,000 towards our initiative.

Giving Nature a Home: Three New Hedgehog Boxes Installed

At Llangoed Village Hall, we are committed to making our community a welcoming place for everyone—including our local wildlife. We are proud to announce the installation of three dedicated hedgehog nesting boxes within the hall grounds.

This initiative is a key part of our wider Bio-diversity Project, aiming to create habitats that allow local fauna to thrive. The boxes were expertly crafted by the members of Seiriol Men's Shed, to whom we owe a great debt of gratitude. Their craftsmanship brings to life the specific designs recommended by The British Hedgehog Preservation Society, ensuring the boxes provide the optimal environment for safety and warmth.

These boxes stand as a testament to what we can achieve when local organizations collaborate. By combining the skills of the Men's Shed with our environmental goals, we are helping to secure a future for hedgehogs in Llangoed.
